My mussel story began when I learned the business from my family, who migrated from Mardin to İzmir in 1980s. I started to peddle in front of schools in Istanbul since I was 7 years old. I have never gone to school, but I was always around them. I was a sensitive kid, always felt responsible towards my family. Therefore, I always worked until I joined the army.
When I returned from army, I served take-away in Istanbul for a while. My real desire was to open a shop. First, I opened my place in the Fish Market, but things did not go as I expected. Then, I organized a little kitchen in my house. I prepared a business card and carried out only take-away service to sustain the name “Midyeci Ahmet”.
During the day I cooked mussels, and during the night I sold them until the morning. In 2014, I opened the store I dreamed of in Beşiktaş. The first year everything went fine, even though we faced some difficulties due to the debts.
My customers challenged each other on how many mussels they would eat. This inspired me and I decided to organize a mussel eating contest. By this contest, “Midyeci Ahmet” took his place on the carpet and in 2018 my childhood dream to expand the taste of mussel all around the world started to come true.
After the R&D researches we conducted, in 2019-2020 we opened our manufacturing facility built on 2000 m2 area in Greece, Thessaloniki.
My story which began by peddling mussel around schools when I was 7 years old evolved in the “Midyeci Ahmet” brand which makes people love mussel in several branches in Turkey and around the world, providing employment for thousands of people. By the upcoming studies, we plan to become a worldwide brand in fast food business.
